Liga MB Round 13 (Regular Season): Cojute lose to Metapan in the game between Top 4 teams

The game between Top Four teams took place in Metapan. Leader host Metapan (10-0) defeated 4th placed Cojute (5-5) 77-66. stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). At the losing side Eduardo Diaz responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Undefeated Metapan have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Cojute at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Santa Tecla and Salvadorenos.
Sixth ranked Salvadorenos (5-5) crushed at home 8th ranked Ahuachapan (3-7) by 32 points 88-56, which is the biggest margin this round. nailed 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Michael Hinestroza accounted for 7 points and 15 rebounds. Salvadorenos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Kordell Brown (203, college: Columbus St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for Ahuachapan in the defeat. Salvadorenos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cojute and Santa Tecla. Ahuachapan at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost.

In the last two games of round 13 Independiente was destroyed by A.Lobos on the opponent's court 76-56. Santiagueno unfortunately lost to Santa Ana in a home game 78-84.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 36 points (!!!) and 36 rebounds by John Hernandez of Santiagueno.



Salvadorenos - Ahuachapan 88-56

Sixth ranked Salvadorenos (5-5) crushed at home 8th ranked Ahuachapan (3-7) by 32 points 88-56, which is the biggest margin this round. Salvadorenos forced 21 Ahuachapan turnovers and outrebounded them 51-40 including 37 on the defensive glass. Salvadorenos players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ahuachapan's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. nailed 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and accounted for 7 points and 15 rebounds. Four Salvadorenos players scored in double figures. Salvadorenos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Very expected game when 7th ranked Independiente (4-6) was crushed on the road by second ranked A.Lobos (9-1) 76-56. nailed 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and accounted for 12 points and 17 rebounds. A.Lobos' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Noryen Lasley (201, college: Ave Maria) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and Lincoln Smith added 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for Independiente in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for A.Lobos. They maintain second place with 9-1 record behind leader Metapan. Independiente at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Santa Ana.

Rather predictable result in Usultan where eighth ranked Santa Ana (4-6) defeated 10th ranked Santiagueno (2-8) 84-78. Santa Ana forced 20 Santiagueno turnovers. Strangely Santiagueno outrebounded Santa Ana 59-41 including a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santa Ana players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Puerto Rican forward Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) nailed a triple-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 13 assists for the winning side and accounted for 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. came up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 36 rebounds and Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for Santiagueno in the defeat. Santa Ana moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Independiente. Santiagueno lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost.
